Abercrombie & Kent creates luxury journeys in more than 100 countries across all seven continents. For more than five years, a dedicated Valens team has developed and maintained its custom booking platform: real-time availability, secure payments and third-party travel integrations.
The problem
A&K's travel platform had to keep pace with growing demand and changing market trends, while handling bookings, itineraries and customer data securely and at high performance.

How we worked
Project context
Abercrombie & Kent is a luxury travel company offering destinations, small-group journeys, cruises, private jet trips and tailor-made travel. It needed a reliable development partner to keep its custom-built platform updated, scalable and secure, and engaged Valens on a long-term basis.
Delivery scope
Frontend and backend development, secure payment gateways, real-time booking and availability, and integration with third-party travel services, delivered by a dedicated team of three developers on a time-and-materials basis.
How we built it
The team began with a detailed analysis of the existing platform to find pain points and improvement opportunities. The platform runs on C# and .NET, with Umbraco as the CMS, MSSQL as the database, Elasticsearch for fast and accurate search and Redis for caching and real-time data, hosted on Azure. Key features include payment gateways such as Barclays, personalised user profiles and preferences, real-time booking and availability updates, and integrations with third-party travel services.

Impact
